There was once an awesome little label, coveted for it's quirky animal alliance, hand drawn art - showcasing subjects from Neil Young to smiling staffy dogs. It was cheekily called Kitten and I loved adding a new piece to my bulging wardrobe each season. This was, until sadly it stopped showing up in the stores. I kept my eye out for it, and was disapointed to find that it no longer existed - leaving me without my new update for my friends and co workers to ask - "where did you get that rad t-shirt, dress or top?"

That was until one day I came across Hotel Bondi. With it's cute graphics, hand drawn yardages and quirky sense of style I immediately wondered if this was a relation to my beloved Kitten?
Thankfully it was!

Take your time to check out this awesome swim brand - and hopefully they will start growing the label to do some more cute tees, overswim and dresses... Pretty please?

Was trying to come up with a way to describe how I feel about Chris Brown - inspiring mag ed Chris Brown - not the uninspiring woman beater Brown - anyways... I think the title of this post sums him up.
Chris Brown has a rad blog that I find myself checking daily, Urban Prairie Refuelled consisting of cool interiors, design, surf, skate, art fashion and photography. The post titled "When Skaters grow up" is a perfect example of why this blog is so appealing to me. Being an individual that has grown up in surf, skate, youth culture, you get to a certain age when you realize that you feel you've grown out of cheesy surf clothes and need a new take on it - especially when you're building a home, getting married, fulltime job (drag) etc. Brown's choice of content shows that you can bring surf elements cleanly and successfully into your living space in sophisticated style without the cheesy dolphin figurines and frangipani wall hangings that are just truly bad.

It was Friday afternoon, California Summertime, in Kristina's garden of Eden (all kinds of wonderful)...eating her organically grown zucchini, sipping some fine wine (solid bottle and goss session later) we somehow end up down the road at this place called the Upper Garden. The kid at the gate requested 10 each from us, of course for the kegs accompanied by the token red plastic guzzlers. Persian rug lays across the grass underneath the bands gear, more Lennon style glasses than a Venice stall sale, mid drifts, long wild hair with centre parts hand ruffled to one side, loose and raggy docs unlaced, cant figure if the kids are drugs users or its all just beer... Then the token muse arrives innocently commanding all attention- indian printed handkerchief covers her chest allowing her curved mid drift to show, floor length skirt sitting low enough for her silver belly charms to tinkle, she's an image straight from Woodstock, without even understanding it herself. What a muse! I love her...
And then the band start- these guys are dope. Psychedelic rock style straight from the juxtaposing society that is So Cal. These guys are the Growlers and are ever so Rad. Download their tunes, grab a spliff and enjoy the afternoon!

So i'm hung over after power spewing on the Standard's astro turf, driving on the 'wrong' side of the right lane down Sunset blvd, navigating with 2 melting muppets (one which my sister married), a hand drawn map and foggy memory of freeway directions... i look up to the left... amongst all the colour and neon sprawled across that street, out pops this image. CK does it again. Taking on those sensitive American censors in the name of fashion. I guess if you're spending that much budget in a recession on a billboard at such a space, you need to stand out! and this is the exact reason i Love CK. You have to push boundaries to get things done sometimes, rule is keep it classy.

So then i get back to my laptop to melt quietly by myself, start googling some stuff to check out more of the denim campaign and find the below link on youtube...

At about 12 years old, these guys were the ONLY thing my sister and i listened to. The start of my CD collection begun with my dad pushing me to use a cd voucher gift to get the Tragic Kingdom Album. At the time i thought he was tripping and what would dad know, (bring on Merril Banbridge - how tragic). Turns out it was the start of my addiction. Gwen continued to have influence over me for a long time and i'll go as far as saying helped shaped me (i did learn every word to every song on both albums- quality emotional stuff). Nothing will be as good as the No Doubt original stuff (Tragic Kingdom and Return of Saturn) however despite her conform to POP, i still think she is as RAD as they come!

So.... No Doubt have reformed and are Touring the USA as we speak. I'm off to LA next week, so am going to try my hardest to get to a show, maybe a flight to North Carolina will be needed. For them, i am willing...

This photo fails to do justice to the magnificence of an opaque black tampon fashioned from resin. My unbelievably talented friend Jill has taken to making casts of everything you could possibly imagine, eg. tampons, keys, the good ol' ciggi lighter, ciggi butts, caramello koalas.... the list just goes on and on!
I was lucky enough to aquire one of her first amazing creations, the "cat key" and (of course) a tampon for a girlfriend who gave me some rad rad jeans a while back.

Current Elliot is a new denim label out of the states that has a really fresh take on the whole sixties, wannabe Kate Moss styling that is around everywhere. The highwaisted Horsehsoe jeans look divine and the boyfriend jeans are super sexy. I love the whole look. I just spent my weekly splurge on a new pair of Sass & Bide Black Rats so I might have to wait a while to get my hands on something from this amazing collection!

I have never been that into knits for summer, however checking out Vogue Brazil's photoshoots and other random images the swimming around on the net at the moment, I have found myself lusting after knitted dresses, swimwear and vests. It gives that whole boho feel but is a little harder to find and less likely (hopefully) to turn up in the chain stores.
The bleached out denim is also super appealing and thanks to such an awesome friend, I dont have to say that I am lusting after a pair of the said jeans. Bleached to the nines and zipped to the knee, I have a new love in my life!

It isn't always easy to highlight accessories in a photoshoot - clothing usually always drags my eye first, then to the models face, perhaps the setting and lastly the bag, scarf or belt, which is usually hard to see - obscured by half a body.
Trawling the internet today, I stumbled upon MiMCO's new campaign. It captures the product beautifully, making every piece so desireable that I will have to tape my credit card statement to my head to stop me from going buying up half their store. Divine!

While I am on a mad jewelry tangent (- did you notice I finally learnt how to spell 'jewelry'?) I thought I would post about my latest 'lust after', Bing Bang.

I am in Love with the whole range, especially the chunky, hard worn bracelets, and pyramid stud earrings.

Marie Seguy designs amazing jewellry that I have been lusting after the past hour and a half. The thing that hooked me even more than her jewellry was the fricken awesome images on her website. Psychadelic, twisted and beautiful, I am in LOVE with them!
She designs her line on a mannequin, and uses various materials, pearls, gold, chunky pyramid studs and fine chains.
She launched in 2004, and to this date has 9 collections under her belt. #1 on my wish list.
